SHOW-STOPPERS

In 2013 Shaun builds a Honda CB450 and Suzuki Tempter for the second Bike Shed Show. Bike Shed founder Dutch is so impressed he asks Shaun to build him a special. “We received so much publicity from Bike Shed and Dutch that once we built Gold Top we never looked back,” remembers Shaun.

THE FIRST SHOP

Down and Out Motorcycles is formed in 2015. Operating out of a unit in Barnsley it consists of Shaun and one member of staff, Carl Portlock. They start building customs to order as well as fabricated parts such as subframes.

FACTORY SPECIALS

2016 and Triumph ask Shaun to build the first custom of the new Street Twin. This relationship sees them go on to be the first to customise the Thruxton R and Bobber. Down and Out then work directly with Yamaha, BMW, Ducati and Harley-Davidson.

BIGGER IS BETTER

2017 sees Down and Out expand to larger premises in Rotherham. While housing fabrication equipment, the new site includes an area to display their creations and allow owners to meet up.
