Yamaha poach Pramac expert
Jack Miller’s top-rated electronics engineer and Magnetti Marelli expert Marco Frigerico has made an immediate departure from the Australian’s factory-supported Pramac Ducati squad and will take gardening leave before joining Yamaha at their Milan MotoGP HQ in December. MCN understands that other members of Pramac’s technical staff have also been approached by rival teams, among them Aprilia who plan to upgrade their factory team and the under-performing RS-GP for 2020.
Marquez is a ‘G-man’
Marc Marquez’s body-slamming highside when he was viciously flipped from his Honda RC213V at Turn 7 in FP1 generated a massive 26.14 G, according to data from his Alpinestars air bag system. It also reveals that the Spaniard first hit the Tarmac just 0.585 seconds after losing control and stopped bouncing 4.81s later.
Rossi’s new broom
Valentino Rossi is to split from crew chief Silvano Galbusera at the end of 2019. David Munoz (above) from Rossi’s SKY-backed Moto2 squad and crew chief when Pecco Bagnaia won the title, will take over. Rossi previously stunned the paddock in 2013 by firing crew chief Jerry Burgess after the pair had won seven premier class titles.
