Reader rates 12 months with his Bonneville T120 Black

Biking’s addictive, we all know that. Once you’ve sampled life on two wheels there’s very little you can do to shake it out of your system. And it’s something MCN reader Richard Rodriguez knows only too well. “It was partly my son’s fault, really,” says Richard as he describes how he came to be the owner of a 2018 Bonneville T120. “I was teaching him to drive and I think he was getting a bit sick of my lessons, so he started to wonder whether learning to ride a bike would be easier. We both went to the MCN Festival and had a taster session: he took to it like a duck to water whereas I was struggled getting my head around the controls. It felt so alien after years as a car driver.” Determined to master motorcycling, Richard took his CBT then went on to take just two lessons before passing his Mod1 and 2. “I went out and got a Suzuki Bandit 600, but looking back it was heavy, cumbersome and not very confidence inspiring. I was at the MCN Festival again and sat on a Triumph Street Twin. I instantly fell in love with the styling and thought it was really cool, so rushed over to my local Triumph dealer, Webbs of Peterborough, who talked me into a Bonneville Black! Weighing it up, the Bonnie actually made more financial sense than the Street Twin because you get a lot more for your money. Plus, on finance it was only something like £15 a month more.”
