TRIED AND TESTED

We rate the kit we use to head off for adventure – or the daily commute

-

Tested by Martin Fitz-Gibbons for six months, covering 2000 miles

An adventure helmet with a twist: the chinbar can be removed, turning it into an open-face lid. Dual homologation means it’s road-legal in either guise. Adding or removing the peak means it’s four lids in one: adventure (with everything fitted); street (no peak); trials (with peak, minus chinbar); and open-face (neither fitted). Remove the quick-release visor and that’s four more setups. Padding is comfortable and the visor is fantastic – a huge aperture gives a great view, while the Pinlock insert keeps it mist-free.

Vents are easy to operate and the neck roll adjusts with pullcords to get a snuggly, draught-free fit. However, the drop-down sunshield has an odd blue tint and the switch is fiddly – it slides forwards to lower the internal visor, then pushes in like a button to retract with a spring-loaded snap. With so many features It’s a big lid, this Large weighing 1870g. The micrometric chinstrap buckle can rub on my throat too.
