RIDE EAST

Being ensconced in the east of England, Norwich is very much a destination rather than somewhere you might chance upon en route to elsewhere, but the historic city is well worth a visit. Escaping the city on the A1067 is a great start to the ride as this road is surprisingly enjoyable. It may not be overly challenging, but it is relatively traffic free. Taking the fast and well surfaced A148 to Cromer, the next stage of the ride encapsulates the true spirit of Norfolk. The A149 is a small and in places poorly surfaced road but that doesn’t detract from the fun. Reaching Caister-on-Sea you can venture into Great Yarmouth with its flashing lights and slot machines or instead stay for a while in the more relaxed Caister before taking the A47 to Norwich. Should you want to extend your ride then you can follow the A149 back to Cromer then nip along the coast for chips in Hunstanton.
