‘A stunning do-it-all’

The Scorpion STR Rally is a miracle tyre. We’ve tested these on a huge range of bikes and they consistently perform with incredible ability. On soft terrain they bite into mud and loose gravel with impressive paddle-steamer-like traction – only ever feeling less than fully gripped if the going gets more clay based. The blocks clear effectively and when combined with a good off-road electronics package there’s not much even a relative novice couldn’t get through. But more impressive, considering their tread pattern, is their amazing on-road performance. You do get a bit of ‘block buzz’ at high speed, but it’s not intrusive, and the grip and control they generate is genuinely impressive. Both front and rear are rock solid when pushing hard at lean and even more surprisingly they’re good in the wet. You get no tearing or chamfering on the block edges, and we’ve seen them survive to the 5000-mile mark, even on the largest adventurers.
