‘Genuine versatility’

TESTED MILEAGE: 3000 COST: £246pr

The TKC80 has become the benchmark by which all other off-road biased adventure bike tyres are judged. Their strength is their genuine versatility. Capable of lasting anything from 2-3000 miles even on big adventure bikes, it means they’ll take most trips in their stride. Off-road they give good stability; especially under braking, they are predictable and in all but wet, claggy mud deliver impressive drive grip. The narrower 90/90 21 front tracks well, gives plenty of feel, which in turn ensures accurate steering. The wider 120 front seen on bikes such as BMW’s GS doesn’t give the same edge grip due to a flatter profile, but grip levels are more than acceptable. On road, any tyre with such a block pattern is a compromise, but in the dry you will be surprised at the drive and edge grip available. On wet, cold roads they need to be treated with respect, avoiding over zealous lean angles, painted white lines or over banding.
