Harley break out the bling for a special edition UK-only FXDR

Striking paintjob for limited-edition UK and Ireland model

-

Harley-Davidson have revealed a limited edition custom FXDR that will only be sold in the UK and Ireland. It’s not a huge change – it’s still running the standard softail frame and 1868cc motor as the stock FXDR but it’s more than enough to stand out.

The biggest change is the paint: gone is the plain white in favour of white, black and gold across the tank, tail unit, headlight and front mudguards. It’s all hand painted, including the pinstriping, by Image Design Custom right here in the UK. It also means that should you buy one, it comes with a proper Harley warranty unlike a fancy paintjob of your own. As well as the paint, the clip-ons have been swapped for a pair of single-piece drag bars. Harley are asking £18,345 for these when they arrive at dealers in June, which is only £350 more than the standard model – a damn sight cheaper than doing it yourself. They’re only making 30 and each is numbered, so you can be fairly sure that if you do hand over your hard-earned cash you’ll likely not see another one. The standard FXDR has come down nearly £2000 from the £20,200 they wanted when it was launched, presumably due to lack of demand. If you were cynical, you might think these specials are just an attempt to shift some unsold stock. Especially as a quick glance at the DVLA’s latest stats suggests that if Harley did sell all these special edition bikes, they’d make up around one in five of all FXDRs registered in the UK.
