Ducati Panigale V2

-

When the Panigale V4 was released, many assumed (with good reason) that Ducati’s legacy of V-twin sportsbikes would end when the 959 Panigale had run its course. But this year Ducati decided to inject fresh life into the 959 and in doing so ensured that future generations of Ducatisti would be able to sample the delights of a booming Bologna V-twin. And we are very glad they have because the Panigale V2 is a beautiful machine to ride. An evolution of the 959 Panigale, the Panigale V2’s engine makes a

very respectable 152bhp, which is more than enough power to thrill yet thanks to a superb throttle connection and lazy torque-laden nature it makes for a chilled-out ride that the firm’s bigger V-twin sportsbikes always lacked.

You can relax on the V2 and go with the flow as the engine isn’t trying to fight or overwhelm the chassis, instead the two are working together in a beautiful blend of power and handling. But don’t think that this machine is lacking an edge, it is still packed full of Ducati’s racing DNA. On track the V2 requires little effort to destroy the corners and where on bigger capacity machinery you are often involved in a wrestling match to lay down all that power, the V2 works with you, leading to an effortless build-up of speed and a huge smile on your face.

The Panigale V2 may be the ‘baby’ sportsbike in Ducati’s range but this is a thoroughly grown-up machine that in many ways is a better buy than the more powerful Panigale V4. A real beauty that is packed full of the true essence of Ducati sportsbikes. And you can have one in your life for £159 per month.
