Couples rediscover the pleasures of getting out together
‘It provides a bit of us time’ R5K MEMBER DAVID SIDOR
Back in 1998, biking couple, David and Angela McInnes, were twowheel mad – spending their free time exploring the local roads aboard David’s gleaming Suzuki GSX-R750. Riding regularly as a duo, their two-up adventures were cut short a couple of years later, as their children began to get older and the Suzuki was sold. David eventually got back into road bikes a couple of years ago after joining the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club and purchasing a Suzuki TL1000R. And now the pair have enjoyed their first trip together in over
20 years, heading out towards Rutland Water between the rain bursts aboard David’s ZX-9R. “I thought it would be really lovely for just me and her to jump on the bike and go out together,” David explained. “Sunday really reignited her - she was buzzing even though we got caught out in a little bit of rain. “She’s brilliant and always was a good pillion passenger. She just totally relaxes and enjoys it,” David continued. “We’re hopefully going to get some adventures going. Me personally - I’d like to go around the world! I’m still 21 in my head and I want to do things like that.
“Once the B&Bs start opening up, I would like to explore the UK and then - who knows - once we want to go further afield, I might chop the Kawasaki in for a proper BMW R1200GS, or maybe a Triumph!” Angela added: “It was nice just being on the road with David and having that freedom that a bike gives you.” Another couple getting out and about was David and Lyndsey Sidor who recently had their first ride together since the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions began to ease in England. Heading out last week, the pair took advantage of summer weather to visit Rivington Hall Barn, Bolton on David’s Burgman. David told MCN: “It’s time away from the house for the pair of us, it’s a bit of ‘us time’ if you like.”
