Interesting array of classic machines up for auction in new Silverstone sale

-

Classic car specialists Silverstone Auctions are turning their hands to two wheels, with more than 40 bikes already confirmed in their May sale and more to come. There is a huge range of bikes in the auction from cheap, semi-classic Hondas to priceless Magni reps, but these are some of our favourites. Starting with the weird, then the wonderful, is this 1973 Triumph X-75 Hurricane. One of just over 1100 built, the Hurricane was designed by Craig Vetter, best known for his pioneering aftermarket ‘Windjammer’ fairings. Fully restored, covering just 2400 miles since, this classic British twin has been with its current owner for the last 26 years. The estimate has been placed at £15,000-£20,000. Sticking with the Brit theme is a pair of lovely post-war Nortons: a 1947 Model 40 Manx and a Model 30 International. The Model 40 is a former race bike, having been campaigned by Dennis Langton at the Manx GP for five years. Mostly original and presented with many period accessories, the Manx has a guide price of £25,000-£30,000. Coming in a little lower is the Model 30, which is one of just 70 built in 1957. Fully restored in 2004 and dry stored ever since, Silverstone expect it to fetch £20,000-£25,00. Lastly, if you fancy something a little more exotic, a 1977 MV Agusta 850 Monza might catch your eye. Unrestored and almost entirely original, this example has had just two owners from new and is set to sell for £40,000-£50,000.
