‘Pleasingly devoid of faff!’

-

Tested by Mike Armitage for three months and 1000 miles Being a simple kind of bloke, I can’t abide over-the-top race boots with multi-adjustable ratchet closures, separate inner things and all that other guff. I just want to slide my stripy socks in, wang up the zip and get on with riding. Hence my appreciation of Gaerne’s pleasing GRW boots. Not only devoid of faff, their flexible

Lorica (synthetic leather) construction allows a wide opening giving super-easy access for my clammy size elevens. The zip slides up swiftly and there’s ample adjustment with the Velcro closing over the top, too. Pivoting external armour and rugged construction bring faith about protective abilities if it all goes upside down, and the ‘Drytech’ membrane keeps rain out.

I’m not overly convinced about sole longevity and the ample shin armour makes it awkward to get some jeans over the top. But with comfort, feel and ease of use, these have become my go-to allround footwear.
