Expect crashes and high drama

Yamaha and Ducati go head to head at legendary Le Mans track

- MATTHEW BIRT INSIGHT

Lots of rain and lots of expensive and painful crashes normally go hand-in-hand when MotoGP’s world tour hits the Le Mans circuit. Expect more carbon carnage this weekend on a track short in length but high on demolition, with a budget-busting 539 crashes in just the last five years. Fabio Quartararo may still be the man, but arm pump blew his blitz to a third straight win off course in Jerez and surgery puts a huge question mark over his prospects this weekend. The track was once a playground of the Yamaha M1 with seven wins between 2008 and 2017. But there’s been no win since. And Ducati are buzzing with at least one bike on the podium in the first four races for the first time.
