Let battle commence: BSB Showdown contenders rated

The fight for this year’s BSB crown is about to heat up as the

From the get-go, Jason O’Halloran has been the man to beat in 2021. His relentless, almost perfect run has seen him win at every circuit apart from Knockhill… where he still claimed a podium finish. If not for the Showdown, he’d be 106 points clear in the title fight.

MCN says…

O’Halloran is going to be tough to beat. You can see it in his eyes – this title means everything to him, and he is 100% determined to make it happen. Heading to Oulton first is a huge bonus for him – the Aussie has five wins from the last six races there. O’Halloran won’t let anybody stand in his way, especially his teammate, Tarran Mackenzie (right).

Tarran Mackenzie’s best BSB season has kept him within touching distance of O’Halloran. He was the only rider to finish the first 15 races, however a big fall at Cadwell ruled him out of two races. Mackenzie has had five top-two finishes in the last six races.

MCN says…

Mackenzie has been seriously impressive this year. He’s fixed his practice and qualifying woes and has evolved into a genuine title challenger. Mackenzie has become a real thorn in O’Halloran’s side and can certainly upset the Aussie’s rhythm. Mackenzie will not surrender and if he can cut out the crashes, he’s in with a real shot.

Much like O’Halloran, Christian Iddon carried his impressive 2020 form into 2021, winning twice and podiuming in seven of the opening 10 races. Unfortunately, a run of bad luck, including being taken out twice, saw him DNF in five of the next 10 races.

MCN says…

His podium last time out at Silverstone was crucial. It’ll do Iddon’s head a world of good after enduring so much bad luck. Iddon knows that he can fight with O’Halloran, he’s been there and done it, so if he can get his mojo and concistency back, he can join Bridewell in pushing the Yamahas all the way. Third is achievable.

The form man behind the Yamaha duo. Bridewell has bagged an impressive eight podiums from the last 10 races and a win is not far away. 2021 marks a fantastic return to form for him and the Moto Rapido team after suffering a tough season in 2020.

MCN says…

Bridewell is the most likely candidate to beat the Yamaha pairing of O’Halloran and Mackenzie. He’s on a spectacular run of form and is edging closer to a return to the top step of the podium. Bridewell is a race winner at Oulton, and a podium finisher around the GP layouts at Donington and Brands Hatch. He’s the favourite for third.
