Treated like family

If Tim wants a good experience at a decent dealer (MCN Letters, May 4) and lives near Hull, they always have time for you at Mileskingsport. They treat me like family.

Bikers are the best people We would appreciate it if you could pass on our thanks to two trail riders – Ian and Martin – whom we met at a petrol station in Usk on Saturday (30 April). We were fuelling up when it was pointed out to my husband Lee that he had a flat on his Ducati Monster. Lee asked Ian and Martin if they knew of a garage that might sort the puncture. They sprang into action, getting air into the tyre and making calls before we followed them to Ray Cowles next to Pontypool Park who fixed up the tyre within the hour.

Mags Krzemieniewski, email Would have been all Wight We visited the Isle of Wight during what was supposed to be race week. I have to say the island is beautiful, great biker friendly businesses, and folk. A truly lovely time, with some great roads – the Military Road in particular. Disappointing about the racing, but still a destination we will be going back to. Big shout out to Dave Death Motorcycles, very welcoming staff. Great place to visit on my Honda Crossrunner.

Big loss for speedway

I was deeply shocked to learn of the passing of speedway commentator Nigel Pearson. It was thoughtful of Eurosport to give Nigel a minute’s silence and show highlights of Nigel’s wonderful commentary. Kelvin Tatum’s heartfelt comments were full of obvious emotion, I will greatly miss their commentary. The speedway world has lost it’s Mr Excitement.

Ed: Our condolences to Nigel’s family and friends in the speedway world Where’s the justice?

So, Boris Becker gets a prison sentence for concealment of millions whilst Stuart Garner gets to walk free after taking millions from pension funds.

Dave Johnston, Atherstone, Warks File off those sliders…

A few weeks back I stopped at a café in Crossgates, in Powys. There were a lot of bikers there, 50✚, and at least half on sportsbikes. These guys were all wearing one-piece leathers, and of course, knee sliders. And as far as I could see, all these knee sliders were shiny and completely unworn. So, here’s my advice to wearers of this kit: if you don’t want to be seen as a ‘wannabe’, either take the sliders off, or take a file to them!

Give me a key please Bob Just received the latest copy of MCN (which I always look forward to) and in the longterm test Michael Guy moans about the lack of a keyless filler cap on the Multistrada V2. Well Michael when you pull up at the pump to fill up with the low level fuel light on and the keyless filler cap refuses to open, as happened last week on my KTM 1290 SA, you will wish that the key in your pocket could open it.

Let’s open up biking

Our club lost its much-loved Treasurer and at his funeral the hearse was escorted by 60 riders on myriad machines both weird and wonderful, it was a marvellous send off. It became apparent, however, that the majority of attendees were white, middle-aged men. It got me thinking about what could be done to open up our passion to others i.e. more females, youngsters, ethnic groups, disabled, LBGTQ✚ etc. Firstly, given that motorcycling has gained more popularity during the pandemic it may be a good time to overhaul the testing procedure. Secondly, modern bikes are just getting taller and heavier. I don’t believe I am being rude by saying that generally speaking female riders are shorter of leg and therefore have to adapt their riding styles to climb aboard a more lofty machine rather than have one fit them safely in the first place.
