Motorcycling icons light up London!

60-bike pop-up museum heads to the Devitt Insurance MCN London Motorcycle Show

-

Take a trip down memory lane at this month’s Devitt Insurance MCN London Motorcycle Show with a 60-bike display celebrating the 40th anniversary of the National Motorcycle Museum. Titled a Celebration of Innovation, the collection will feature machines from the pioneer era, through the world-beating Brits of the 1960s and beyond – showcasing the evolution of the bikes and riders that have shaped our world.

Celebration of British motorcycling history

The pop-up museum is a treasure trove for enthusiasts of all ages. You can marvel at a 1902 210cc Singer ‘Wonder wheel’, one of the earliest production motorcycles. You’ll also see a 1913 Matchless v-twin works racer, only half a dozen of these works racers were ever made and this is the only surviving example. And for those with a soft spot for British motorcycling in the 1980s, a 1982 Hesketh stands out as a symbol of the fightback against Japanese dominance of the era.

Landmark race bikes

The exhibition isn’t just about classic road machinery. It also features some of the most memorable race bikes of all time. See the rotary racers ridden by Steve Spray, Trevor Nation, and Steve Hislop, all of whom were pioneers in the development of Wankel-engined race bikes. And no exhibition would be complete without a bike ridden by the great Barry Sheene. The collection will feature his final race-winning bike, the 2002 500cc FWD Manx replica Sheene rode to victory in an INCA historic race at Donington in 2002.

See the 588cc rotary racer campaigned by Ian Simpson. The

Duckhams QXR sponsored Nortons achieved an incredible run of victories against the toughest possible opposition on UK circuits, racking up over 50 podiums.

Essential viewing

The display is a must-see for any motorcycle fan. It is a unique opportunity to view some of the most striking bikes in history, and to learn about the people who made them famous. The exhibition is exclusive to the Devitt Insurance MCN London Motorcycle Show, so don’t miss your chance to see it.
