Fancy a Desmo?

Ducati MotoGP racer and Aston Brough under the hammer

-

Iconic Auctioneers will be selling off two very special examples of biking history on Sunday, April 7.

The Shuttleworth sale will feature a one-of-88 Aston Martin Brough AMB 001 Pro, as well as Loris Capirossi’s 2003 Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP race bike.

Currently, there are 85 lots listed with stock ranging from scooters, through to classic sportsbikes, vintage motocrossers and antique machines spanning back to 1918.

The AMB 001 Pro is the only motorcycle ever produced in conjunction with Aston Martin and according to Mark Bryan, Motorcycle Manager at Iconic Auctioneers, this particular machine was the first example imported into the UK.

Its 997cc turbocharged V-twin engine puts out a claimed 225bhp, giving it a staggering power-to-weight figure thanks to a svelte claimed dry weight of just 175kg.

Speaking about the Brough, Bryan said: “It’s super exclusive – number eight of only 88 ever produced. This one has never been ridden, it spent its whole life next to the owner's supercars in his garage, only being started and run occasionally.”

All that track-only performance is available at an estimated sale value of £150,000 – roughly the same as its release price back in November 2022.

Those wanting a piece of MotoGP history will need to bring even more cash to the table, with Capirossi’s Desmo racer expected to fetch between £250,000 and £300,000.

The 2003 machine – which is said to be in full running order – holds a special place in the Ducati’s racing lineage, representing the brand’s return to the world of MotoGP after first competing in 1973.

Former 125 and 250cc world champion Capirossi rode the machine to fourth for the season after a first-place victory in Catalunya. To check out all the listings for yourself, head to iconicauctioneers.com, then speak nicely to your bank manager.
