Is speed record coming home?

-

The organisers will be hoping the weather won’t foil their plans to recapture the ‘World’s Fastest Road Race’ title next weekend. Clerk of the Course, Noel Johnston, is still smarting after Dean Harrison’s average speed of 134.614mph in 2017 was eclipsed by Peter Hickman’s 135.452mph in this year’s Senior TT.

All eyes will be on Harrison and Hickman as they renew their TT battle. Although Michael Dunlop, a six-time Dundrod winner, will be determined to spoil the script on the Tyco BMW... if he races. That trio look likely to dominate unless Padgett’s Honda star Conor Cummins can get into the mix. Lee Johnston is a dark horse on the Honda Racing Fireblade. Davey Todd, 22, has enjoyed a fantastic season on the roads, while local hero Derek McGee has also been displaying strong form. And former Norton rider Dave Johnson has just agreed to race for Tyco on the high-tech HP4 Carbon S1000RR.
