Although Belgian Xavier Simeon has already signed a deal with the Avintia Ducati team, this could be in jeopardy due to a cost increase as Ducati refuse to sell the squad GP17 bikes and only the more current GP18s. This would put either Alvaro Bautista or Karel Abraham in contention for the last remaining ride on the 2019 grid.
