Brilliant BMW middleweight adventure bikes from just £4k

-

BM’s new F850GS is more than a styling exercise: it’s quicker and sweeter-handling than the 800 with more kit and sounds meaner too, with a thrapping exhaust note, thanks to a new firing order and offset crank. But although a brilliant bike, there are now 10 years of used examples of the parallel twin F-GS family around to suit every budget and taste and BMW build quality means they can be a great secondhand buy.

2018 F850GS

What is it? Latest F-series GS has come of age as an alternative to its 1200 brother. It’s practical, comfortable, has a great specification and is easier to ride off-road.

MCN says “Who needs a big-capacity adventure bike when the new F850GS is around?”

Want to buy one? £9400, £1877 deposit, £129 per month on a three-year PCP deal, 9.9% APR.

2018 F750GS

2013 F800GS ADV

2008 F650GS

What is it? F650 twin has a lower seat and softer delivery than F800 so is as novice-friendly as old single. You say “Comfy, capable and returns over 60mpg.” Ariesfour.

Watch out for Headraces can be weak. Ones with extras worth more. One we found £4250, 11,000 miles.
