Design for life This is where the initial design happens, by Rich himself using CAD. His experience helps shape the lengths, diameters, balance points and tapers of the prototype, all of which are dyno tested.

Welding up The only automated technology in Austin Racing is the welding turntable, when Ben TIG welds an end can.

Tube bending Billy operates the most expensive machine at Austin Racing – a semi-CNC tube bender.

Polishing off Jay and Ava are Austin Racing’s polishing specialists, working in a separate cutting and polishing room to bring up the systems to a fine finish.

Assembly line Matt puts together baffling and wadding. Some components are put together with a special glue.

Despatching Jim takes the final assemblies, checks them for quality, then packages them for sending worldwide.
