Two years ago Indian swapped the fat 16in front wheel to a skinny 19in and transformed the handling of the Chieftain. Now they’ve pumped up the engine. It still has quirks but the Chieftain is now 1500rpm and a button switcheroo away from bagger perfection. Yes, these hunks of American muscle are light years from their Euro rivals technologically, but you’ll feel ‘special’ when you see yourself in a shop window.
