“I’ve owned four K1600s before so I know I like the bike, but due to the high mileage I cover I tend to hand them in every two to three years before they devalue too badly. Also, the 18,000-mile valveclearance service is expensive, so that is a factor, too. Overall it’s an economic decision: I generally lose about £6000 over two years, but the fact the used market is quite strong for the K1600 is helpful. The fact it was an updated model wasn’t really a factor, it was just time.”
