Richard Newland (MCN, September 26) urged readers to give Silverstone another chance to get it right after the MotoGP debacle. I disagree. Heavy rain in 2000 turned the F1 race into a muddy mess, which was later rectified through improved access and parking. In 2018 heavy rain again caused problems, but the principle cause of race cancellation was a newly laid track. Track boss Stuart Pringle should have resigned the next day, but failed to do so. As Brits, we continue to accept second rate conditions and service, while the world laughs at our failures. Make Britain great again by not accepting second rate in all that we do or pay for.
