Bautista stuns on WSB debut

Alvaro Bautista stunned the World Superbike paddock on his test debut by ending his first day on the Ducati V4 only 0.3s off world champion Jonathan Rea and ahead of team-mate Chaz Davies. However, as MCN went to press on Monday evening it was still Rea who led the way at Jerez, topping the first of the two-day test for much of the afternoon with only Bautista briefly taking the top spot off him. Davies was third ahead of Alex Lowes on the first of the Yamahas, while Leon Haslam was fifth. The new factory BMW and Honda squads, headlined by Tom Sykes and Leon Camier respectively, weren’t testing.
