Target Mr Big instead

The trouble with the police tactics is that ramming bikes doesn’t help with the recovery of the machine. Instead the insurance will now be paying out for a damaged bike (most likely written off) versus a stolen bike. Probably the same amount. And at the end of the day, this is police violence against someone yet to be convicted of a crime. Just like drug dealers, they need to be going after the people who the thieves are stealing for, or selling to. Take those out, and the thefts will decrease.
