Counting cost of Brexit

In MCN’s report (November 21) Markus Schramm, director of BMW Motorrad, seems to be referring to the effect of Brexit on BMW logistics rather than on UK riders. If we don’t buy “a worse deal than we had before”, promised by the PM, we will need to apply the WTO common tariff on imported bikes. What’s a tariff? It’s a tax you pay to your own government when buying a foreign product (if you’re not in a tariff-free club like the EU). In taking back control of our money, laws and borders (if you’re not yawning yet), we will have decided to pay more for EU bikes and gear.
