The new CBR650R gets engine and fuelling upgrades, a higher rev limit, 5% more power at peak, improved torque curve and a 6kg weight saving thanks to frame, tank and other efficiencies. The rider’s seating position is also slightly more aggressive, although it’s not as focused as the defunct RR, while its baby Fireblade aesthetic is clearly intended to appeal to RR refugees. Add the optional quickshifter and this will be a great sporty road bike.
