Your core training doesn’t have to be done in the gym. Outdoor sprints are also a fantastic way to build runningspe­cific core strength. “During fast-paced sprints,” says Bramah, “your trunk muscles have to work harder to control the movement of the spine and pelvis, so they can be a great way to condition your body. Aim for 5 x 80m sprints, starting at 70% of your max speed and gradually nudging up the pace of each rep.
