FOREFOOT THINKING

-

Running is a straightforward activity often made to seem incredibly complicated. For Lawson, you will get the most from it when you keep things simple and trust your technique – up to a point. “Our bodies know how to run,” says Lawson, “and we all have an efficient way of moving. The only thing I would try to avoid is heavy heel striking: it’s always better to land more towards your forefoot. But that can easily be addressed if you go out and run barefoot on a grass field for ten minutes, two or three times a week. You’ll find you run the way you’re supposed to – in a way you don’t have to when you wear big, bouncy trainers.”
