Regular intake of cocoa may help prevent stress-induced heart attacks and strokes, according to new research.1 Cocoa is high in avanols, a type of avonoid (phytonutrients found in most plants and animals) that has numerous health-boosting e ects. And a new study carried out by the University of Birmingham has shown that the blood vessels of subjects who downed a avanol-rich cocoa drink functioned better under mental stress, reducing their risk of dangerous cardiovascular events.
