Mushrooms are just magic for staving off depression, according to an article in the Journal of Affective Disorders. Mushrooms contain high levels of an antioxidant called ergothioneine, a natural antiinflammatory. But that’s just one of the brainboosting chemicals boasted by the edible fungi: button mushrooms are also good sources of potassium, for instance, which is linked to lowering the risk of anxiety.
