TRACT STAR
If you enjoyed a bit of cranberry sauce with your Christmas lunch, it might have helped to keep your pecker in good health. That’s because a large review study has confirmed the old wives’ tale that cranberries can prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs).2 The review of ten controlled trials showed that regular cranberry consumption reduced risk of recurring UTIs by a whopping 38%. It’s thought that these protective effects are due to a group of polyphenols in cranberries called ‘a-type proanthocyanidins’.
