This weatherproof jacket has the spec you need to fight the chill and look ice cool
The AW18 collections could have been named “ski season”, such was the avalanche of alpineinspired apparel on the catwalks of Louis Vuitton, Prada and Hermès. But would powder junkies actually want to wear it? “It’s tricky. On the slopes, there’s always a risk with designer clobber that you’ll look like you’ve all the gear but no idea,” says stylist Jessica Punter, who has dressed James Franco and Sir Michael Caine.
Tommy Hilfiger, however, has teamed up with Rossignol, which boasts a century of experience in manufacturing winter sports gear and a head office in the French Alps. In other words, a whole lot of ideas. This jacket’s throwback Jean-claude Killy aesthetic is complemented by tech: four-way stretch fabric offers freedom of movement, while a polyurethane membrane lets sweat out but stops water coming in. “It’s weatherproof in a way that a regular overcoat will never be, but also has style props,” says Punter.
In our book, that means it’s perfect, whether you’re on the piste or simply heading out for a few cold ones.
