GET AN EXTRA BOOST

EXPERIENCE A GREATER ENERGY RETURN ON YOUR RUN THAN EVER BEFORE WITH THE SUPERRESPONSIVE ADIDAS ULTRABOOST 19 TRAINERS. MH JUNIOR FITNESS EDITOR MICHAEL JENNINGS PUTS THEM THROUGH THEIR PACES

-

Do you have one fitness feat that you can’t seem to achieve? Well, running a sub-20- minute 5K has always been mine. Don’t get me wrong, my previous best of 21 minutes and 45 seconds was respectable, but deep down I knew I could go faster. I just couldn’t seem to. The fault didn’t lie in my training: I simply needed an extra boost, and adidas answered my call with its latest addition to the ULTRABOOST family, ULTRABOOST 19.

Over a two-year design process, adidas enlisted the help of thousands of runners, collaborating on and co- creating the new silhouette, so I knew I could put my faith in the shoes. The trainers’ lightweight construction employs adidas’s new Torsion Spring technology, which gave a greater responsiveness than I’d ever felt from any shoes. From the moment I laced them up, the 3D- knitted seamless

upper felt like a second skin, reacting to my foot’s natural motion, while the support and adaptability offered by the 3D heel frame took the shocks and strains offered by the bends and potholes of London’s patchwork roads in their stride. From the first mile to the last, I felt far more snap in every step. It didn’t quite make those last leg- burning minutes as I pushed myself hard towards the finish feel effortless, but it was close.

And all that technology showed in the final time. My old record was history as I clocked a 5K personal best of 19 minutes and 58 seconds. Sure, the run was tough, but I felt so much more comfortable and confident about pushing myself to the limit. From heel to toe, every foot strike in the ULTRABOOST 19 felt smooth, and that made for the most exciting, enjoyable and speedy 3.1 miles I’ve ever run. £ 149.95 adidas.co.uk/ultraboost
