INEFFECTIVE FIREPOWER

- ANDREW TRACEY MH fitness ed, @theandrew. tracey

Over such a wide range of motion, there’s plenty of room for error. Don’t be like these people and avoid the common pitfalls

THE BIG SWINGER

With his arms as straight as poles, he swings the weight all the way up in a wildly inefficient arc. The closer an object remains to your body, the lighter it feels: that’s just physics. So, keep the dumbbell close.

THE HALFREPPER

He breaks free of the ground like a bat out of hell – only to lose momentum and fail to achieve lockout at the top. End each rep with your arm fully extended, your biceps close to your ear for maximum shoulder gains.

THE TOP DROPPER

This man nails the take-off but fails to stick the landing. Dropping the dumbbell from the top and letting gravity do the work, he loses tightness through his core. Reverse each rep to the ground mindfully.
