THREE SUPERIOR VEGAN LUNCHES
Rovi by Ottolenghi
No compendium of vegetable-first restaurants would be complete without a shout-out to the king of 21st-century veg innovation, Yotam Ottolenghi. Rovi is his most forward-thinking destination yet, with a menu built around fire and fermentation. The kitchen that launched a thousand imitative corn ribs.
Andina
Peruvian cuisine lends itself naturally to healthy eating, and Martin Morales’ Andina is as good as British Peruvian gets. The focus is on fresh, lively ceviches, but there are also classic, vegan mains of aubergine, mushroom and corn tamale. One of the few restaurants that can genuinely claim to cater to all diets.
Nando’s
The world’s pre-eminent peri-peri chicken chain has a very respectable plant-based alternative in the form of The Great Imitator, built around a pea protein that tastes ‘just like’ the real deal. There’s also a Rainbow Bowl, as well as a vegan version of their Perinaise, which you can take home.
