NECROPOLIS 1998
The Nifelheim brothers’ eponymous 1995 debut album, may have set the tone for the rest of their career with its vitriolic, primitive thrash, but it was on their follow-up three years later that Scandinavia’s highest provider of nails, bulletbelts, mask-style make-up and invisible oranges really let their hair (or now, rather famously, lack thereof) down. With their aggression multiplied by South American-style frenzy, multiple NWOBHM nods, overthe-top songtitles such as Deathstrike From Hell, The Final
Slaughter and Soldier Of Satan, not to mention both Dissection guitarists Jon Nödtveidt and John Zwetsloot guesting on leads, this is where the black/ thrash kings earned their crown of thorns.
