KADAVERDISCIPLIN

Nefarious Swedes battle their way to glory

- WORDS: DOM LAWSON

Black metal comes in many forms these days. Many bands choose to take an experimental, artful and atmospheric approach, while others, like Sweden’s Kadaverdisciplin, believe in getting straight to the point. Brashly upholding the feral spirit of fellow countrymen like

Marduk and Dark Funeral, these snarling ghouls clearly have no time to waste. Their debut album, Death Supremacy, goes off like a Satanic rocket and barely pauses for breath for the next 47 bruising minutes. These men are plainly on a mission.

“The birth of Kadaverdisciplin was something that was bound to happen,” says vocalist Jimmie Nyhlén. “We have all been involved in different bands and projects throughout the years, so we have had a personal relationship for a long time. While working on Death Supremacy we didn’t really have any aims other than making one hell of an album.

With a strong line-up and songs that are of a higher standard than most, we certainly saw the potential to release an album that will stand out and be remembered.”

Standing out from the underground hordes is no easy task these days, but there is an intensity and palpable sense of violence driving this band’s songs forward that makes them seem much more than just another Swedish black metal band. Ultimately, it’s those with the biggest ideas and the balls to back them up that usually triumph, and Kadaverdisciplin are audibly and admirably hellbent on nefarious glory.

“On our first album we’ve been exploring the darkness that takes possession of the soul and feeds upon the human mind in times of war and plague,” says Jimmie. “I am certain that the Gods Of

The Earth cheer triumphantly as their sheep wage war upon each other in blind obedience. Since the album focuses upon wars being fought for different reasons we chose the title Death Supremacy because it sums it all up, in a glorious way.”
