GET INVOLVED

-

THE GAMES “A lot of professional drifters say they learned via drifting on videogames, which gave them an advantage in the real thing,” Jake tells us. “It’ll teach you the ways a car can respond even though it takes time to transfer from your hands on a controller to your feet on the pedals.”

THE LESSONS

A handful of UK companies offer, er, crash courses in drifting skills, such as http://learn2drift.com, to give you a safe environment to learn and practise without risking serious damage and a hefty repair bill. “Keep your practice to the track,” Jake warns. “On the road you end up injuring other people and you get a big old slap on the wrist from the police.”

THE RESEARCH

Jake recommends watching video tutorials to get an idea of what a drift should look like when handled properly. “And if your parents get annoyed with you spending too much time on the TV,” Jake adds, “let them know it’ll save them a lot of money on cars in the future!”
