It’s almost a given that when the Cavanagh brothers plug in their guitars, they’re going to conjure something that captivates hearts and engages minds. But with a heavier reliance on electronics and a thematic arc that saw the band both descend into darker atmospheres and extend themselves to heartbreaking point on the 11-minute epic, Back To The Start, Anathema’s 11th album saw them living up to their progressive moniker by making the likes of the gorgeous Endless Ways and Ghosts even more vibrant.
