MALCOLM YOUNG: 1953-2017

-

The rock world was left in mourning at the tail end of 2017 as it was announced that legendary AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young had passed away aged 64, after a three-year battle with dementia.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland before emigrating with the rest of the Young clan to Australia in the 60s, Malcolm and his brother Angus decided to form a band together in 1973, and would go on to become the beating heart of the behemoth that produced the likes of Back In Black, Highway To Hell, For Those About To Rock and countless other classics.

“As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life,” said Angus in a statement.

“He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever.”

On November 28, friends, family and AC/DC members past and present gathered to attend Malcolm’s funeral, which was held at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney, Australia, with fans also lining up to pay their respects during the procession.

Malcolm’s impact on our world was, quite simply, immeasurable, and he will be dearly missed.
