Swiss folky heroes bring their melodies to the UK

-

what’s Your favourite touring memorY so far?

ANNA MURPHY (VOCALS, HURDYGURDY): “The Lacuna Coil tour because they’re great and we were lucky to spend a whole month on a bus with people who are so awesome and humble. In 10 years, we haven’t met a band that’s been so nice and easy to get along with.”

You’re Back in the uk! do You like coming here?

MERLIN SUTTER (DRUMS): “We were pleasantly surprised by the reaction from the Delain tour last year because we struggled with previous tourmates in the UK, but this time there were so many people congratulating us. You guys are pretty spoilt for music so we have big shoes to fill when we play the UK. We’ve a lot of connections, too; I live in London part-time, Anna’s half Irish and Ivo [Henzi, guitars] likes fish and chips, so he’s going to try as many as possible.”

what do You take to make the Bus feel like home?

ANNA: “We usually bring whiskey but not Swiss whiskey, that’s bad. We bring chocolate for the other bands, plus I bring a humidifier for my bunk, which is a great tool for vocalists when the air conditioning dries out your vocal cords. I usually have terrible accidents with it, though, so my whole bed gets soaked by it…”

which of You has the worst tour Bus haBits?

MERLIN: “Sometimes I find Anna up in the morning – she doesn’t get up early, she just doesn’t go to bed – so that’s usually a bad sign. Besides that, we’ve learned to not be annoying. Apart from one of us having periods from time to time, we’re all girls at some point – although Ivo does get them sometimes. We’re like BFFs and our periods have aligned…”

do You get manY presents from fans?

MERLIN: “About a thousand! We get a lot of paintings of Anna because fans like to paint her and try to do her justice, which doesn’t always work out. Right now, we’re sitting on 30 Belgian beers we were given that we still need to drink.”

ANNA:“WE’VE had cakes with our logo on, plus I’ve got a cushion shaped like the smiley poo emoji, so we’re very spoilt!”
