Grave Upheaval

-

UNTITLED

NUCLEAR WAR NOW! PETRIFYING DEATH-DOOM FROM THE DARKEST OF DIMENSIONS If some artists have a special ability to take you back to specific moments of your life, Grave Upheaval actually go the extra yard, taking you to the very beginning of life itself, when one grotesque form first slithered out of the primordial soup. Their music is so amorphous and volcanic that it doesn’t bear any songtitles or proper lyrics. It’s an album seemingly devoid of any human element; the figures behind this pool of magma have remained anonymous, although rumours point to members of cryptic entities Portal and Temple Nightside at the helm. These 57 minutes’ worth of droning guitars and lack of any discernible parts could have been a bloody mess, yet at its very core there burns a rare primal energy so intense it’s almost unbearable. Not for the squeamish!
