Members of Pantheist, Void Of Silence and Aphonic Threnody have united to form Towards Atlantis Lights, a supergroup of funeral doom luminaries whose collective sound is an emotionally wrought work of spacey introspection, lumbering low-end swells and delicate sonic exploration. Dust Of Aeons contains an almost soothing quality thanks to its flowing, tidal tempos and mood-shifting subtlety, immersing the listener within its slowly unfolding atmospherics and majestic soundscapes. The occasionally deathly growl of Pantheist’s Kostas Panagiotou intones through light passages of dreamy keyboards and shimmering guitar work to create the perfect counterpoint and bring forth the band’s subject matter of tragic historical events. One of the more relaxing and reflective albums of an often one-dimensional genre that does not stagnate or become a tiresome lengthy test of grim endurance.
