LAMB OF GOD
NEW AMERICAN GOSPEL
PROSTHETIC AUGUST 2003
Fifteen years ago – 10 months after the band had unveiled it in their US homeland – Richmond, Virginia’s lamb Of God released a British edition of their second album (its predecessor had been issued under the band’s original handle of Burn The Priest). It’s fair to say that Hammer’s representative, Terry Bezer, was blown away by New American
Gospel, predicting that “2003 would become the year of the riff” and describing its contents as “41 minutes and 32 seconds of sheer genius” in a nine-out-of-10 review. “lamb Of God have concocted a modern-day extreme metal masterpiece,” wrote Terry, calling the record “a relentlessly aggressive, breathtaking experience that serves as a tutorial in violence.”
