Get set for 2018’s Guitarist Of The Year competition
are you aiming to become the next Kirk Hammett, Lzzy Hale or Zakk Wylde? Then this is the contest for you! Metal Hammer’s friends at MusicRadar, Guitarist, Total Guitar and Guitar Techniques have teamed up to find the Guitarist Of The Year, with the winner receiving an exclusive prize haul from the biggest names in guitar. There are also prizes for Young Guitarist Of The Year (open to under-16s) and Acoustic Guitarist Of The Year.
To enter, upload a video of your playing to YouTube and send a link to guitaristoftheyear@futurenet.com by July 2. Use the subject line ‘Guitarist’, ‘Young Guitarist’ or ‘Acoustic Guitarist’ depending on which category you’re entering. Make sure you include a few details about where you are, what drew you to the guitar, and your playing – anything that makes you stand out. We need to see you play, so please don’t send promo-style videos.
Your video will be watched by a panel of expert judges – including metal’s own Mark Tremonti – who will select the finalists. They’ll get to play live at our brand-new UK Guitar Show on September 29, 2018, before the winners are announced. So what are you waiting for?
