LES IRREALS VERSIONS

-

SEASON OF MIST CATALONIAN EXPLORERS REWORK PAST ENDEAVOURS There’s no denying that Barcelona’s Foscor make beautiful music and their heavy, dark metal is the perfect vehicle for their brand of gothic-leaning doom. Les Irreals Versions is the reworking of songs from previous two releases, Those Horrors Wither and Les Irreals Visions, and where the original songs held beauty depths within their weighty structures, these new versions hold it in simpler acoustic movements and JJ Fiar’s delicate voice. However, Les Irreals Versions suffers from losing those heavier elements and where Altars once soared it now drags. Stripping back the electronic instruments doesn’t change the song enough to make this version worthwhile. L.Amor.t does more to address the balance and takes away the growling death doom vocals, replacing them with gorgeous clean vocals filled with emotion, while keyboards add texture and the drama is returned at last.
