CHILDREN OF THE ATOM

HELLS HEADBANGERS PUNKED UP BLACK/THRASH FROM FINLAND’S IRRADIATED WASTELANDS

These Finnish maniacs’ third album is another high-energy, beer-chugging blend of late 80s Motörhead, d-beat and South American-style black/thrash – a reliably over-the-top racket the band lovingly refer to as ‘Devil Metal Punk’. Bonehunter’s funtime attitude and reckless abandon is at the less profound end of black metal’s thematic spectrum, finding a wilfully perverse sense of freedom instead. Lyrical themes include wanton women, horror and war, making Children Of The Atom sleazy fun for the whole family. Since their debut, the band have evolved from elemental Bathory worship to a more rounded, rock’n’roll squalor, while progressively upping the intensity and speed as the band’s capabilities have increased. Tracks like Sex Messiah Android fully achieve the band’s vision of headbanging, drunken, street metal debauchery and will hopefully earn the band wider notoriety.
