PERFECT STRANGERS

-

How Stranger Things actress Chelsea Talmadge ended up making a cameo on Ice Nine Kills’ horror metal epic HAD YOU HEARD OF ICE NINE KILLS BEFORE? “Not until I met Spencer! Growing up, the only heavy metal I was familiar with was whatever my brother could play on the drums. Singing on a track that was very different from my usual vocal style was a challenge, but the team were extremely encouraging and I couldn’t be happier to have been a part of it.”

WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH THE GUYS?

“I moved to the East Coast after filming Stranger Things, and have had such luck booking jobs that unfortunately, when Spencer reached out about doing a feature on the album, I was filming! I never did get to work with the rest of the guys. They did, however, set up a studio session for me in Orlando and I was able to work it into my filming schedule. Later, Vans Warped Tour had a stop in Orlando and I was able to meet the rest of the band and explore their tour bus!” WHY DO YOU THINK HORROR MAKES FOR SUCH GOOD LYRICAL SUBJECT MATTER? “There’s so much creativity that goes into the horror genre. All the makeup and special effects. Most horror films are known for their scores, so it was only a matter of time before someone had the idea of incorporating that into their music. Ice Nine Kills do this effortlessly. I’ve had the privilege of listening to a few of the other tracks and I can honestly say they’re bone-chillingly good!”

WHAT’S THE HEAVIEST ALBUM IN YOUR COLLECTION?

“System Of A Down – Toxicity. I remember hearing Chop Suey on repeat during road trips with my older brother. I was exposed to all kinds of music growing up. I listen to everything now – pop, classic rock, metal, blues, jazz, folk… .even country.”

WHAT ABOUT HORROR? HAVE A FAVOURITE MOVIE?

“I love horror films, especially those that ‘find the funny’. Director Mike Flanagan does an amazing job of this in Gerald’s Game, which is my current favourite. I’m actually going to be in an upcoming horror film myself; I’m working alongside Ewan McGregor in Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep, also directed by

Mike Flanagan!”
